Iranian Resistance welcomes new EU sanctions on Iranian regime

Call for comprehensive sanctions including oil sanctions against the regime

NCRI – The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) welcomes EU sanctions against 29 Iranian regime’s officials involved in systematic violations of human rights in Iran.

The NCRI called on the European Union, the United States, the United Nations and UN Security Council to adopt comprehensive sanctions, particularly oil sanctions against the clerical regime and its leaders.

The silence and inaction by the international community vis-à-vis crimes committed by the mullahs during past 30 years has emboldened them to continue unabated with torture and killings in Iran. Execution of 120,000 of political prisoners including massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988 is only a part of these crimes. In last September alone more than one hundred prisoners were executed. Three of them were under the age of 18 at the time of alleged crimes.

Many of political prisoners are held in Gohardasht and Ghezelhessar prisons and await their execution as ordinary criminals.

Gauging eyes, amputations, widespread group arrests and suppression of women and students continue in various cities across Iran.

In such circumstances it is indispensable to refer the dossier of the violations of human rights in Iran to the UN Security Council.
