Protest rally of temporary contract teachers in front of the regime parliament

On Sunday, August 16, oil, gas, petrochemical refineries, and power plant workers in 23 cities in 12 provinces continued their strike for the 16th day. Fearing the continuation and spread of the strikes, officials, and contractors, affiliated with IRGC and other regime agencies, have attempted to get workers back to work by making hollow promises to break the nationwide strike. But the workers, maintaining unity and solidarity, insisted on continuing the strike until all their demands were met fully.

In addition to demanding their back pay, workers are asking regular and timely payment of wages, insurance premiums and other work benefits, a halt to layoffs, reduced working hours, the provision of banking facilities, the formation of a labor union and a legal supervisory board.

Also, today, the workers of Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Industrial Complex continued their strike on the 63rd day by gathering in the city of Shush; and the workers of Hepco in the city of Arak continued their protests. Hepco workers announced that they would continue to protest until their arrears were paid, and the production line is resumed. The strike and protest of the railway workers, which started on August 13, continued in Tehran, Mashhad, Neyshabur, and some other areas of Khorasan for several consecutive days.

In another development, today, many “contractual teachers” and teachers from Tehran as well as different parts of the country, including Qazvin, Alborz, Qom, Khorasan Razavi, and Khuzestan gathered in front of the mullah’s parliament. Tenured teachers from Tehran and other provinces joined the rally.
