Student Day protests with slogans of “Death to dictator” and “Political prisoners must be freed”

Student Day Protests – No. 5

Hundreds of students at Tehran’s Industrial University of Water and Electricity staged a demonstration chanting “Death to dictator” and “Political prisoners must be freed”.

Surrounded by suppressive forces, students at Tehran’s Polytechnic University chanted slogans of “Death to dictator”. The Iranian regime’s Bassij agents attacked the students and beat many of them. Last night, agents of the university ‘Herasat’ Office (Security Office, a branch of the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security on university campuses) attacked campus dormitories confiscating the students’ statements prepared for Student Day protests.

Students of Tehran’s Technical College staged a rally outside the campus in protest to the presence of a senior IRGC commander by the name of Harandi, with one student being arrested by intelligence agents. In addition to other activities, students at the University of Arts had written “Death to dictator” in graffiti all over the university walls and chairs.

Classmates of Kianoush Asa, who was slain in last year’s popular uprising, held a ceremony in Tehran’s Science and Industry University marking his anniversary.

The faltering clerical regime, in fear of the students and people’s protests, in addition to masses of Revolutionary Guards and Bassij forces that were stationed in the streets, gathered massive suppressive forces in stations throughout different areas of Tehran including police stations in Tajrish Square, and Azadi, Northern Sohrevardi and Palestine streets. Equipped with motorcycles, the forces were ready to attack people.
