Student activists arrested in run up to November 4 uprising

 Nationwide uprising – Statement 196

NCRI – Widespread arrests and pressures against students in the run up to the November 4 uprising continue as more student activists are arrested by the clerical regime.

In Tehran, two students from Khaje Nasir Toosi University were summoned to the Public Prosecutors’ Office on Monday charged with leading protests at the university in recent days.

In Babolsar, in the northern province of Mazandaran, three students from Mazandaran University were arrested on Tuesday charged with “acting against national security.” One of them is a Mathematics student in this university and the other two are medical and chemical science students from Mashhad University doing special courses in Mazandaran University. They were taken to Babolsar prison.

Suppressive organs in Babolsar are trying to contain Mazandaran University student protests by listing the activists and arresting them.

In Ilam, western Iran, the authorities are trying to keep youths and students out of the city so that they cannot participate in November 4 protest. One of the students from Meli University of Ilam was taken by the intelligence agents of the regime and warned to keep away from the city between November 1 and 7.

Despite all the arrests, intimidations and threats by the regime, student protests in universities across the country still continue and anti-regime graffiti have filled public places in many cities.
