Sporadic clashes of youths with suppressive forces in various parts of Tehran

Antigovernment demonstration of Ashura- no. 9

NCRI – From afternoon till sunset there were clashes between Ashura mourners and the suppressive forces in different parts of Tehran on Thursday.

In the afternoon, in a severe clash between the people and suppressive forces close to Ferdowsi Square, the agents hit and injured the people by shock batons. The youth resisted and punished at least three of the agents. Thirteen people were injured too.

In Jordan Ave. the youth responded to security forces’ attacks by hurling stones at them.

At 16:00, in Khayam Ave. in response to suppressive measures of the security forces, the people chanted: “Down with today’s Yazid (Imam Hossein’s murderer)”, “Oh our martyred Hossein, Iran has turned into another Karbala”, “Death to dictator”. In clashes between the people and suppressive agents five agents of the SSF were injured. One of the people was injured and ten were arrested.

In Mullah Sadra Ave. a group of mourners resisted against the regime’s agents who were trying to disperse them. The mourners chanted: “With the help of Abulfazl (Imam Hossein’s warlord) we will eradicate tyranny”, “Oh Hossein; Iran has turned into another Karbala, death to this anti-Islam person (Khamenei)”. In Tehran-Pars, the people clashed with the agents while chanting “down with the demagogue regime”. 

Some youths were arrested during the clashes between the people and the regime agents in Sattarkhan Ave. (toward Towhid), Salsabil (intersection of Hashemi and Dampezeshki), Azadi (intersection of Yadegar and Pounak sq.), Behboudi Ave., and Eskandari Ave.

Several groups from Bassij and SSF as well as plain-clothes agents were stationed outside notorious Evin Prison to disperse any protest gathering there.
