NCRI – People’s nightly protests are still continuing in Tehran with people taking to their rooftops and various streets and alleyways. Iranians, and especially the youth in Tehran, shout slogans such as “God is great” and “Death to dictator” from open windows and rooftops of their homes and also on the streets in various communities.

The nightly protests took place last night, August26, in different districts in Tehran, including Jamshidieh, Seyyed Khandan, Mirdamad, Velenjak, Sadeghieh, Vanak, Fatemi, Takht-e Tavous, Azadi, Saadatabad, Shahrak-e Gharb, Jomhouri, Tehranpars, Darband, Yousefabad, and Ekbatan. The intensity of the protests in Vanak and Jamshidieh were more than other areas, and the protests continued well into the night until about 22:30 local time.

The Bassij militia members and plainclothes agents on motorcycles tried to instill fear and intimidate people in various districts by riding in groups before the start of the nightly protests. Some youths confronted and forced them to flee.

In Shiraz, following the reopening of the University of Medical Sciences and University of Shiraz, the students at the dormitory started chanting “God is great” and “Death to dictator.” This act of protest started around 23:00 local time.
