NCRI Sport Committee Calls All Athletes and Sports Fans to Protest Execution of Majidreza Rahnavard

Iranian hero Majidreza Rahnavard was sent to the gallows in Mashhad this morning by the agents of Khamenei’s criminal regime. Together with Mohsen Shekari, who was hanged last week, he became another legend for the Iranian people. Majidreza was arrested on November 19 and sentenced to death on November 29 in the so-called court of the mullahs’ regime. He was executed only 20 days after his arrest.

Majidreza Rahnavard was a brave and reputable athlete who bravely defended people’s demonstrations in Mashhad against Ali Khamenei and confronted the brutal attack of paramilitary Basij forces and repressive forces’ shooting.

The NCRI Sport Committee strongly condemns this barbaric crime and holds Ali Khamenei directly responsible for this crime. Not only will Khamenei not achieve any results from this crime but will expedite the process of his entire regime’s overthrow.

The NCRI Sport Committee welcomes the declaration of protests and national mourning over the executions of Majidreza Rahnavard and Mohsen Shekari by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and calls on all athletes and sports fans of Iran to protest this execution. It also urges all athletes and sports associations in different countries to condemn this crime against humanity.

Majidreza Rahnavard’s path and ideal will shine on the top of honor and pride of Iran and Iranians just like other athletes such as Habib Khabiri, Forouzan Abdi, Navid Afkari, etc., who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the people of their country.
