Maryam Rajavi’s message to people of Tabriz and Orumieh

Uprising in Northwestern Iran – Statement No.2

NCRI – Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of Iranian Resistance, praised the people of Orumieh and Tabriz for their uprising and described the courageous uprising of people of Azerbaijan as a sign of eruption of dissent of Iranian society in its entirety that would not tolerate the clerical regime.

Mrs. Rajavi called on Iranians nationwide particularly the youth and people in Tehran to show solidarity with people in Tabriz and Orumieh.  She underscored that the savage reactions by Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and Bassij Para-military force to last week and today’s protests that resulted in injuring dozens of residents of Tabriz and Orumieh and widespread arrests, show the panicky and fragile status of a regime that sees it engulfed in crisis.

On the one hand the outrage and dissent of Iranian people, in particular women and youth, to bring down the regime and on the other the wave of change and overthrowing of dictatorial regimes throughout the region that the mullahs are panicking about their impacts in Iran.

The President-elect of Iranian Resistance said: The despicable status of Lake Orumieh is an example of the destructiveness and devastation of the rule of Velayat-e-faqih (absolute rule of religious dictator) that has no cure but the overthrow of this regime.

Mrs. Rajavi urged the international community in particular the United Nations and human rights organizations to condemn the suppressive measures of the clerical dictatorship and called for immediate action to release political prisoners, particularly those who have been arrested in Tabriz and Orumieh.
