Maryam RajaviCrisis within the regime deepens and the suppressive machinery cannot stop the uprising

NCRI – Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, hailed the restive people in Tehran today who have taken to the streets simultaneous with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s inauguration at the regime’s parliament (Majlis). She said that repeated protests by people in Tehran and other cities highlights the resolve of the Iranian people to change the clerical regime and establish democracy and the sovereignty of the people.

The popular uprising in Tehran and clashes with suppressive forces during the ceremony on Monday when Ahmadinejad was endorsed by Ali Khamenei, the regime’s Supreme Leader, and during today’s inauguration ceremony at the regime’s parliament while the suppressive forces were on full alert has a clear and powerful message. The velayat-e faqih system (absolute rule of clergy) has no legitimacy or a future and the rift within the regime is deepening, Mrs. Rajavi said and added that the uprising continues and the suppressive machinery including Kangaroo trials, ridiculous shows and taking forced confessions under torture is not going to be able to stop them.

The President-elect of the Iranian Resistance called for solidarity with those detained during the uprising and their families by Iranian people and the youths in particular. She also called on the United Nations Secretary General, the Security Council, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and other human rights organizations to condemn the clerical regime’s crimes and adopt immediate measures to get the political prisoners released.
