Thousands of youths take to streets of Tehran and clash with suppressive forces to open the way to Enghelab Square

NCRI – Thousands of youths are marching towards Enghelab Street and Enghelab Square from several different directions in Tehran, according to the PMOI’s Social Headquarters inside Iran. Clashes with the suppressive forces are going on in various parts of the capital. Today’s march is to mark the anniversary of the July 9, 1999 uprising.

Using batons and tear gas, Bassij paramilitary agents and anti-riot forces attacked demonstrators who were chanting ‘death to the dictator’.

Thousands of people jammed in Ferdowsi Square since the main streets leading to Enghelab Square and Tehran University are blocked by the forces. People are going through side streets and alleys to get there. In 12-Farvardin Street, hundreds of people have staged a sit-in.
