NCRI – This morning, tens of thousands of deprived workers gathered in protest to their unpaid wages and the mullahs’ regime anti-labor law. In Tehran, the protesting workers gathered outside Iran’s Labor House in Abu-Raihan Street. A similar move was organized in other cities such as Shiraz, Mashhad, Semnan, Sari, Arak, Saveh, Kashan, Qazvin, Qom and Yazd.
In the capital, tens of thousands of workers gathered from early morning hours outside the Labor House in Abu-Raihan Street. Large number of the workers had come from Islamshahr, Qom and Karaj, the three nearby cities to the capital on more than one hundred buses, to join the demonstrations in Tehran. The State Security Forces and other security agents attacked the striking workers and bus loaded them bound for Khomeini’s Tomb where they were forced to listen to labor officials. Workers continued with their protest there by shouting anti-government slogans: "Job security is our inalienable right," "Jahromi [Labor Minister] shame on you leave office," "Incompetent [labor minister] should resign," "Death to Jahromi," and "We will not be humiliated."
Simultaneous with the demonstrations in Tehran, similar moves occurred in other cities such as Shiraz, Arak, Mashhad and Yazd. The workers chanted: "The incompetent [labor] minister should be hanged," "Death to Jahromi," "Jahromi must resign," and "Worker will die but will not give in to humiliation."
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance saluted the protesting workers and called on Iranian people, in particular, youths to support the deprived workers.
She added that restive protests by the workers, students, women and other stratus of the Iranian society are signs of the regime in its faltering state.
Mrs. Rajavi reiterated that commerce and relations with the medieval regime in Iran bear no legitimacy and are not justified. She called on all international human rights organizations as well as labor unions to condemn the regime for its anti-labor measures and to support the Iranian workers in their endeavors to restore their basic rights.
