People take away corpses of hanged prisoners
NCRI – People in Sirjan, central Iran, turned the public hanging of two prisoners into an anti-regime demonstration on December 22 and took away the corpses of the victims.
On Tuesday morning, two prisoners identified as Esmail Fathi-Zadeh and Mohammad Esfandiarpoor, charged with illegal possession of arms, were hanged amidst cries of protests by their families and relatives and local people on the scene.
While chanting anti-regime slogans, people hurled stones at the regime’s henchmen. The suppressive forces tried to disperse the crowd by firing into the air and teargas. In the course of the pursuing clashes, families of the victims took away their corpses from the scene. Following the incident, the city’s council for security held an emergency meeting to decide how to confront the protest and prevent its expansion.
The clerical regime is trying to contain rising nationwide protests by intimidation and creating fear in the society and to this end has stepped up public hangings.
