Honoring Martyrs of Uprising, Nightly Demonstrations in Parts of Tehran and 21 Other Cities

On Thursday evening, February 16, the 154th night of the nationwide uprising and on the 40th day of the martyrdom of Mohammad Mehdi Karami and Mohammad Hosseini, people in many parts of Tehran and in the cities of Karaj, Qazvin, Shiraz, Sanandaj, Izeh, Arak, Mashhad, Isfahan, Khorramabad, Ahvaz, Yazd, Javanrud, Ardakan, Amol, Neishabor, Ruidar Hormozgan, Malayer, Mahabad, Kermanshah, Rasht, Tabriz, etc. staged nightly demonstrations, lit fire and blocked roads despite the presence of suppressive forces.

In Tehran, people staged nightly demonstrations in many places, including Enghelab Street, Tehranpars, Janat Abad, Haft Hoz of Narmak, Sattar Khan, Sadeghieh, Shahrak-e Naft, Ekbatan, Ferdows Boulevard, etc. The defiant youths confronted the suppressive forces by setting up barricades in Sadeghieh of Tehran and engaged in hit-and-run clashes.

The young people in Shiraz, Sanandaj, Khorramabad, Javanrud, Mahabad, and Kermanshah blocked the streets by lighting fires and staging nightly demonstrations, and on the Mamulan to Khorramabad highway, they blocked the path by burning tires.

Demonstrators were chanting “Death to Khamenei”, “Death to the dictator”, “This year, is a year of sacrifice, Seyyed Ali (Khamenei) will be overthrown”, “I swear to the martyrs, we will stand until the end”, “We pledge to the blood of our comrades – we will stand until the end”, “Khamenei be warned, the uprising will not cease”, “Neither Gaza nor Lebanon, I sacrifice my life for Iran”, “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Leader (Khamenei)”, “We are not scared of execution or prison, we will stand to the end” and “We didn’t make sacrifices to praise the bloody leader (Khamenei)”.
