Iran: Mullahs set stage for further repression and arrest of students

 Nationwide uprising – Statement 202

NCRI – Following the courageous November 4 uprising by the Iranian people, the mullahs' regime is setting the stage for further repression and arrest of students.

Hundreds of members of Bassij paramilitary force who were recently admitted to Tehran University to spy on the students and suppress them, arrived at university’s main entrance gate in 13 buses on Sunday, calling for arrest of students that participated in November 4 anti-government protests.

The Bassij members were joined by a number of agents of Ministry of Intelligence..  They asked the authorities to sentence the protesting students to 2-6 years of imprisonment.

In addition, Bassij members and plainclothes agents raided the dormitories of pharmaceutical and agricultural students on the outskirts of Tehran. In this attack, a number of students who staged a hunger strike against the arrest of their friends were beaten.

Regime's agents at Shiraz University publish daily statements calling for “judicial measures” by the prosecutors’ office against students who joined the November 4 protests. Ignoring the intimidations, students marched from Alam Square to the university’s dormitory on November 8 in protest to the arrest of their friends.
