Iran: Former political prisoner of 1980s rearrested

NCRI – According to reports, Mr. Hamid Haery, 60, was arrested on December 6, when mullahs’ regime savagely raided his house and transferred him to Tehran’s notorious Evin prison.

Mr. Haery who is the father of one of the PMOI members in Camp Ashraf, was arrested back in the 1980s for helping his brother, who was a member of the opposition, to run away. He spent three years in prison at that time.  He still suffers from the tortures he received during that time.

Hamid Haery suffers from different ailments including heart problems and has suffered two heart attacks.

The authorities refuse to respond to enquiries of his family about his state.

Meanwhile, mullahs’ regime has transferred Reza Joshan, arrested for his family ties with PMOI members in Ashraf, to ward 4 of Gohardasht prison where dangerous criminals are held. This is a well-known tactic by the regime to pressure political prisoners.

Ali Saremi, who recently received a death sentence; Mansour Osanlu, chair of Bus Drivers Union; Arzhang Davoodi, Said Masouri, Afshin Baimani, Mohammad Ali Mansouri, Mansour Radpour, Hood Yazarlu, Misagh Yazdannejad are among political prisoners who have been transferred to this prison in order to increase pressure on them. Their condition in this prison is appalling.

The Iranian Resistance urges international authorities and human rights organization, particularly UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, to enact urgent and binding measures to investigate the deteriorating situation of human rights in Iran and to free political prisoners in Iran.
