NCRI – The regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in a stinging statement on late Thursday accused Mir Hossein Moussavi of “spreading many lies” and conducting “major propaganda and psychological warfare against the IRGC and Bassij force” in order to “misguide public opinion, create distrust and ruin the IRGC and Bassij”. The statement was in response to a letter by Moussavi to the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, accusing members of the Guardians Council and IRGC of openly supporting Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The IRGC described Moussavi’s writings as “unconcealed charges” and warned him to apologize to the IRGC and Bassij.

In an open letter of protest to Khamenei on Thursday, Moussavi said “members of the Guardians Council are [openly] supporting” Ahmadinejad, “the Interior Ministry and governors are creating obstacles for election observers” and there are “reports of interference in the elections by a number of commanders and officials of the IRGC and Bassij” and there is a “likelihood of election-rigging”.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, said that the escalation of the power struggle within the regime during the election sham, which is gaining new dimensions with each passing day, is a decisive blow to the regime in its entirety. Whoever becomes president, she said, would be doomed to suffer from its scathing and broad consequences. She added that a new era had begun in Iran marking the start of the end of the ruling religious fascism.
