Iran: Demonstrations, Clashes with Repressive Forces Continued in Tehran, Other Cities on 25th Night of Uprising

NCRI logoOn Monday, on the 25th night of the uprising, Tehran and other cities including Sanandaj, Saqqez, Yazdanshahr, Isfahan, Kazeroon, Shiraz, Mashhad, Hamedan, Rasht, Karaj, Varamin, Fuladshahr, Marivan, Baneh, Hamedan, and Marvdasht were the scenes of nightly demonstrations, hit-and-run clashes with suppressive forces during which the people were chanting, “Death to Khamenei” and “Death to the dictator”.

In Tehran, cries of “death to the dictator” echoed from the rooftops in various areas, including Zargandeh, Saadat Abad, Geisha, Zafar, and Shariati. There were demonstrations and clashes with the suppressive forces in Southern Vali-e Asr, the 18th district of Tehran.

In Sanandaj, despite the brutal and bloody attack on Sunday night, residents blocked some streets by burning tires and beating up several suppressive agents. The sound of gunfire could be heard from different parts of the city for several hours. Due to a large number of detainees, all the prisons are full, and the detainees have been taken to a warehouse at the end of Kar-Amoozi Street.

Various areas of Mashhad, including Hashemiya, Jalal Al Ahmad, Vakil Abad, and Mellat Park, were the scenes of demonstrations and clashes between youths and suppressive forces. In Kermanshah, the youth took control of some of the streets by lighting fire. The young people of Marvdasht pulled down a large poster of Qassem Soleimani. In Shiraz, the people managed to help free a man who had been arrested and subsequently beat up the security forces. In Roudehen, the sound of “Death to the dictator” could be heard from the rooftops.

On Monday, students at various universities, including Amir Kabir, Tehran, Sohanak in Tehran, Allameh, Arak, Babol, Qazvin, and Rasht Technical University, staged demonstrations. In Amir Kabir, they chanted, “We no longer fear tanks and machine guns, tell my mother she no longer has a daughter”.

High school students staged demonstrations in Tehran and many other cities, including Isfahan, Malayer, Miandoab, Kamyaran, and Baneh while chanting, “Death to Khamenei”, “Death to the dictator”, “Damn with crimes, death to the Supreme Leader (Khamenei)” and “Dignified teachers strike, strike”. In many high schools, students tore up pictures of Khomeini and Khamenei in their books and stumped on them.

The state-run news agency, Mehr, reported on October 11, that for “security issues” and “to avoid traffic jams,” the Tehran municipality “has removed garbage containers but unfortunately has not offered a solution as to how to collect the garbage” and “a lot of garbage has been dispersed around the city”, “which has created chaos in the city”.

On October 10, Mehr news agency also quoted Brig. Gen. Qassem Rezaei, the Deputy Commander of the State Security Force, as saying, “More than 2,000 of our colleagues have been injured by rocks, sticks, and shots, and a number of members of the State Security Force, the Basij and the Revolutionary Guards have been martyred”.

Quoting Seyyed Majid Mirahmadi, Deputy Security and law enforcement Officer of the Ministry of Interior, Entekhab state-run daily, wrote on October 10, “178 banks have been vandalized and burned, 35 government buildings have been damaged and destroyed”.
