Iran: 33rd Day of the Nationwide Uprising, Students’ Protests, Expulsion of Government Spokesman from Allamah University

On Tuesday, October 18, on the 33rd day of the nationwide uprising, student protests continued in Tehran’s universities and various cities of the country. The students at Allamah University, chanting, “Shame on you! Shame on you,” prevented Ali Bahadori Jahormi, the government spokesman, from giving a speech at this university. The students were chanting, “We don’t want weed, we don’t want murderous guests,” “Canons, tanks, and guns are no longer effective! tell my mother she doesn’t have a daughter anymore”, “rootless Basiji, here will not be become Sharif,” referring to the slaughter in the Sharif University, and “Student will die, but never accept humiliation.”

The Electrical Engineering Faculty at Khajeh Nasir University students protested, chanting, “They shot and killed and set fire to Evin” and “We heard gunshots as we spoke the truth.” The students at Art University sang the national anthem of the Resistance, “O-Iran.” Melli University students demanded the release of political prisoners in their sit-in. The Industrial Engineering Faculty of Tehran University students protested and went on strike.

The students of the Universities of Gilan, Golshahr in Karaj, Mazandaran, and Art in Tabriz also went on strike and demonstrated. The students at the Tabriz University of Arts chanted, “All my soul and body is for my country.” The students at Gilan University chanted, “Neither Gaza nor Lebanon, I sacrifice my life for Iran,” and at Mazandaran University, students chanted, “For every fallen person, one thousand rise.”

School students protested in different cities, including Tehran and Sanandaj, chanting, “Death to the dictator,” In Rasht, several young people demonstrated, chanting anti-regime slogans.

IRGC Colonel Mohammad Reza Muzashi, deputy social officer of the State Security Forces in Yazd province, displayed the regime’s fear of the uprising and acknowledged the suppression of teenagers. On October 18, the state-run Entekhab website quoted him as saying: “Some young people and young teenagers are participating in this movement” and that “the police is forced to deal with them according to their duty to establish security.” He added that “any car that disturbs the peace will be fined 3,150,000 rials in the first stage and will be impounded if it repeats.”
