Iran: 30% increase in bread prices worsens inflation and poverty

NCRI – The government of Hassan Rouhani has increased the price of bread, the main nourishment for the vast majority of the Iranian people, by 30 to 40 percent.

The price increase comes only days after the Iranian regime failed to reach and a comprehensive deal with the six world powers to end its nuclear weapons program that has cost the Iranian people hundreds of billions of dollars.

This price increase for the most essential component of daily food will further impoverish laborers and people with a low-income which constitute 90% of the Iranian society.

The increase in the price of bread will give rise to a series of price hikes on other items. Thus, the unbridled inflation which Hassan Rouhani promised to contain and diminish will increase even further.
Since Hassan Rouhani became president of the clerical regime, not only have incomes not increased, but the number of unemployed has increased and many industrial plants have been shut down.

Poverty, the high cost of living and inflation in an Iran with its great wealth, natural resources, vast oil and gas reserves, and advanced and expert workforce, are the by-product of the fundamentalist and corrupt despotism of the mullahs.

The regime spends the majority of the wealth of the Iranian people on nuclear weapons programs, military and security equipment used to suppress people, export of terrorism and fundamentalism and warmongering in Iraq, Syria and other countries in the region. Also much goes into the bank accounts of the leaders of this regime and their family members.

One such example is the Executive Committee of the Imam Khomeini’s Order, or EIKO, a global network of private companies that is totally controlled by Ali Khamenei and considered his personal property with over $95 billion in assets.

This wealth has been accumulated from the usurpation of people’s property, including the property of many members of the opposition movement, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and their families.

Poverty, the high cost of living, inflation and unemployment are the result of the religious tyranny ruling Iran and for as long as this regime is in power, the trend of destruction of Iran’s economy and increase in the number of famished and wretched shall continue.
