Burning the Images of Khamenei, Attacking Paramilitary Basij Sites, Continuation of Strikes and Protests in Iran

Iran uprising – No. 62

Tuesday, January 30: Workers, toilers and plundered people continued their protests and strikes across the country:

1. Courageous youths burned the image of Khamenei in Tehran Pardis.

2. The Basij centre in the fourth phase of the Ramhormoz was burnt down by the youth of this city.

3. The Basij base, called Malik Ashtar, was burned down by the youth of Ilam.

4. In Shiraz, courageous youth punished five government mullahs on Monday night January 29.

5. Workers’ strike of the Kian Kurd factory in Malayer continued for the 17th day. They gathered outside the governorate building in protest against the non-payment of their salaries for six month and their New Year gifts for three years.

6. The workers of Railway Traverse Company completed their 10th day of strike. They protest against the non-payment of their salaries for three months and their insurance for four months. Over the past months, a large number of Travers workers with long record have been fired. Thousands of railroad workers across the country cannot afford their livings due to lack of job security and non-payment of their salaries.

7. The railway workers of Isfahan, Mashhad, Yazd and Maragheh continued their protests. The banner of striking workers in Maragheh read: “No salaries, no insurance. We are fed up. How long should we tolerate injustice and discrimination? ”

8. The Nilou Tile workers’ protest in Najaf Abad continued for the second week due to not paying 28 months of salaries. Workers carried a large banner saying: “Privatization, at what cost? Who will help us? ”

9. In Saveh, workers of the factory of power transmission towers in Kaveh Industrial City, who have not received any salaries for one year, staged protest gathering.

10. The people plundered by Caspian Institute affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards in Rasht set up a protest rally outside the Golsar branch of the Institute in protest of looting their property. The institute was set up with the support of the Central Bank, the judiciary, state radio and television to plunder the people’s assets in the cities of the country. But now, none of them is responsible for the lost funds of the people.

11. The protest of a number of workers of the Tehran Bus Company continued on Tuesday. They protested at not delivery of their houses by the company’s housing cooperative.

12. A group of Yasouj municipality workers gathered in front of the City Council in protest at non-payment of their salaries.

13. Workers at Borujerd Municipality stopped working for the fourth day and gathered outside the municipality in protest against the non-payment of their salaries for eight months.

14. In Tehran, dozens of contract staff of Iran’s National Drilling Company protested against the huge difference between the salaries of company directors and employees and workers.

15. Contract workers at the Fajr Petrochemical Complex in Khomeini Port protested at the non-payment of their demands. They demand extra payment for their bad work conditions.

16. A group of ‘Yas’ soap factory workers in Khorramshahr gathered in protest against the non-payment of their salaries.

17. Fassa sugar factory workers, who have not received their salary for two months and suffer from the lack of facilities for workplace safety, gathered at the factory site.

18. Dozens of inhabitants of Darreh-Shahr city of Ilam gathered in front of the governor’s building. The IRGC forces opened direct fire and dispersed them.

19. Hadishahar (Jolfa) tractor drivers protested against quitting their petrol quotas and livelihood problems.

20. Oppressed people of Ramiandar in Golestan province gathered in front of the governorate. Repressive forces closed the entrance of the governor’s building to prevent the people from entering.

21. A group of retired staff of Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad University of Medical Sciences gathered outside the Yasuj governorate in protest against the failure to meet their demands, including the retirement bonus.

22. In Karaj, a number of engineers working in construction projects gathered outside the City Council in protest at the failure to pay their demands.
