Two juvenile offenders face imminent execution in Iran

NCRI – The mullahs’ regime plans to hang Behnoud Shojaie and Safar Angouti, who were both under 18 at the time of alleged crimes.

On the case of Behnoud Shojaie who has been in prison since 2005, the mullahs’ judiciary has repeatedly approved his death sentence and on three occasions he had to endure the painful condition of being taken to the gallows, but due to international pressures his execution has been postponed each time.

Safar Angouti who has been in prison for the past three years is scheduled to be hanged on October 21.

Meanwhile, the mullahs’ regime sentenced to death three prisoners on Saturday following show trials and forced confessions taken under torture.  They were detained during recent anti-government protests in Iran. (State-run news agency ISNA, October 10, 2009)

Simultaneous with the World Day Against the Death Penalty, the Iranian Resistance calls on all international authorities and human rights organizations, particularly  the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, to condemn the widespread use of death penalty in Iran and to adopt immediate and binding measures to stop this cruel punishment especially for minors by the Iranian regime.
