The shocking admissions by one of the henchmen of the mullahs’ regime about the deplorable state of prisons come at a time when the real number of prisoners is increasing dramatically. Close to one million people are sent to the country’s prisons or detention facilities annually, according to some of the regime’s officials. The regime has stepped up suppression to an unprecedented level to combat the rising number of popular demonstrations and uprisings.
The Iranian Resistance draws the attention of all human rights organizations to the deteriorating state of the Iranian prison population and calls for an international fact-finding mission to investigate Iranian prisons.
