Tehran bazaar merchant sympathizer of PMOI arrested

Tehran's Bazzar - August 12, 2009NCRI – Agents of the Iranian regime’s infamous Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) arrested Mr. Mohsen Dokmehchi, a well-known Tahran bazaar merchant, on Monday, September 7, 2009. He was transferred to notorious Ward 209 of Tehran’s Evin prison.

The regime’s agents arrested Mr. Dokmehchi in a raid on his workplace.  Subsequently, they took him to his residence, searched and ransacked his house, confiscating a number of his personal belongings including his family photo album, computer, cell phone and identification papers.

Mohsen Dokmehchi had been arrested for supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) and subjected to brutal tortures in the early 1980s.

The fact that his daughter is in Camp Ashraf, and he has been providing financial support for the families of political prisoners, the MOIS agents were infuriated with him and repeatedly threatened him with arrest.

The Iranian regime has arrested and imprisoned many family members of Ashraf residents in recent years. While expressing its concerns about the grave situation of family members of the PMOI, the Iranian Resistance calls on all human rights organizations, in particular the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, to act urgently to secure the release of the political prisoners.
