Save lives of political prisoners on hunger strike in Tehran Evin prison

EvineNCRI – The Iranian Resistance calls for urgent measures to save the lives of 17 political prisoners who are on hunger strike in Tehran’s notorious Evin prison as their state is deteriorating.

The prisoners are held in Ward 350 of Evin and started their strike on Monday, August 4, in protest to intolerable prison state and various pressures on them including their transfer to solitary confinement on occasions. The prisoners are often warned that Evin will be turned into second Kahrizak prison, west of Tehran, which was closed down following reports revealing some of the most brutal tortures used on inmates.

Some of the prisoners are currently in critical state suffering from lung ailment, diabetes, migraine headaches and other acute ailments.

The Iranian Resistance warns about the lives of hunger striking political prisoners and calls on all international authorities and human rights organizations, particularly the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and special rapporteurs on arbitrary arrests and torture at the UN, to adopt urgent measures to investigate the situation of hunger striking political prisoner.
