Mullahs’ regime displays fear of popular uprisings in Azeri provinces

NCRI – Mullahs' regime displays fear of popular uprisings in Azeri provincesWidespread uprisings in Azeri provinces continue despite a systematic crackdown, taking the ruling mullahs by fear. The regime’s Majlis (parliament) held an emergency session on Wednesday to review the situation.

“The incident which occurred over the cartoon published in the government-run daily Iran indicated that the state’s enemies plan to exploit any small episode,” Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi, the mullahs’ Interior Minister, was quoted as saying by the state-run news agency Fars during a governors’ meeting on May 31.

Pour-Mohammadi attributed the solidarity among students, workers, and people in other regions to the “enemies” and added, “The enemy is endeavoring to link small incidents together and exploit problems among students, workers, in society and among ethnic minorities for destructive ends.”

In a report entitled “Monafeqin’s (Mojahedin’s) support for the rioters”, the state-controlled daily Ressalat wrote, “Maryam Rajavi called on international human rights organizations to condemn Iran for suppressing the rioters.” The paper added, “The Infidels (People’s Mojahehin Organization of Iran) supported the rioters under the pretext of an insult against Azeris. In a statement, this group supported the rioters and demanded the release of those arrested.”

The Iranian Resistance calls on all international human rights organizations to condemn the brutal suppression of the Azeris in Iran and adopt urgent measures to save the lives of those arrested.
