NCRI – Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, offered her condolences and sympathy to the survivors of the devastating earthquake in Kerman, south of Iran, and wished immediate recovery of those injured and patience for the families of the slain.
On Monday evening, December 20, an earthquake struck the villages of Kerman province that left a great number of victims among deprived an oppressed people and destroyed many villages completely. She asked all the people of Iran, especially the youth, to rush to assist the bereaved families and to rescue those wounded or trapped beneath debris.
Initial reports show that the clerical regime has taken no steps to rescue great number of people who are trapped beneath debris, and thereby the number of casualties is rising.
Mrs. Rajavi added: the prime party responsible for casualties due to natural disasters in Iran is the antihuman and anti-Iranian rule of the mullahs that by plundering Iranian people’s wealth and expending most of the county’s income on military projects, suppression, nuclear projects, export of terrorism and state suppressive propaganda, has attained no advantage for our homeland other than poverty, devastation, and destruction of economic bases. Although this region is on the seismic belt, the mullahs’ regime had taken no preemptive measure, and despite successive earthquakes during recent days in the villages of Hossein-Abad, it took no preventive measure to save the people from all these devastations and misery. This is the very same situation with the survivors of the terrible earthquake in Bam in 2003 who are still deprived of minimum life necessities and are living in poverty and misery.
The only way to end all political and economic disasters and extensive impacts of natural occurrences, Mrs. Rajavi said, is to rescue the people of Iran from the tremendous calamity of the ominous regime of velayat-e faqih, to establish democracy and people’s sovereignty, and to spend people’s wealth on their welfare and prosperity.
