Iranian Resistance calls for support for imprisoned Dervishes on hunger strike

The Iranian Resistance calls on the world community to condemn the crimes committed by mullahs’ regime in Iran against the imprisoned Gonabadi Dervishes who have been on hunger strike since March 2.

It further asks all relevant international authorities, including the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief, and the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, to support their demands, especially immediate medical care for ill Dervishes.

Some 2,000 Gonabadi Dervishes in various cities in the country are on hunger strike in solidarity with the ten imprisoned Dervishes on hunger strike in Evin, Gohardasht, Shiraz and Bandar-Abbas prisons.

The campaign began when the prison guards returned to prison two imprisoned Dervishes before receiving any medical treatment.

Hamid Reza Moradi and Mostafa Daneshjou, had been taken to the hospital for surgery and treatment of their heart disease.

Agents of the Iranian regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security have deprived another Dervish prisoner, Afshin Karam Pour, from receiving medical treatment. He suffers from acute kidney disease.

Also, three other Dervishes, Saeed Madani, Reza Entesari and Farshid Yadollahim, were suddenly exiled to the Gohardasht prison on March 2. Currently the three ill Dervishes are on hunger strike and their health condition is worrisome.

During past recent days, the on-strike Dervishes in Gohardasht prison and Nezam prison in city of Shiraz as well as the Dervishes in ward 350 of Evin prison have refused to meet with their families.
