Iranian Resistance calls for attention to dire situation of Iranian refugees in Baku

NCRI – In protest at their dire conditions and receiving no response to their application for refugee status, a group of Iranian asylum seekers in Baku sewed their eyes, mouths and ears shut. These asylum seekers left Iran 10-18 years ago and are living in Azerbaijan. In a similar protest move last January that lasted four days, they asked for attention to their demands; the protest ended after the UNHCR pledged to attend their problems.

By adopting a resolution on brutal violation of human rights in Iran last week, the UN Human Rights Council underscored the need for the appointment of a Special Rapporteur in this regard. This resolution and dozens of previous ones,  as well as the history of mullahs’ crimes have made it binding more than ever to respect the rights of Iranian refugees  and  asylum seekers as a humanitarian action.

The Iranian Resistance calls on the Azerbaijan government, UNHCR and other international human rights advocates to take immediate measures to attend the dire conditions of Iranian refugees and asylum-seekers in Baku and other parts of Azerbaijan and to relocate them to the European countries.
