NCRI – The Iranian regime has intensified its pressure on imprisoned female supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and also on the relatives of Ashraf and Camp Liberty residents.

Prison torturers deny patients medical care, leaving a number of them in critical conditions.

Ms. Zahra Mansouri, 60, a relative of a Camp Liberty resident was undergoing chemotherapy outside prison due to cancer, but has been returned to Evin prison despite her condition worsening. She also suffers epilepsy and has been in a critical condition several times because due to deprivation of the necessary medicine for her ailment.

Ms. Motahhareh Bahrami (Simin Daneshpour) is suffering various illnesses including severe disc prolapse. Although the doctor in prison had diagnosed her condition to be critical, the regime’s criminal prosecutor Jaafarabadi prevented her from being transferred to hospital to receive the necessary treatment.

Ms. Bahrami, together with her husband Mohsen Daneshpour, 70, and her son Ahmad, 40, were arrested in December 2009 for having visited their relatives in Ashraf and were charged with ‘Moharebeh’ (enmity against God). Motahhareh Bahrami was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment; Mohsen and Ahmad were sentenced to death.

Ms. Seddigheh Moradi, who is suffering from a neck disc prolapse due to being tortured in prison, is being denied treatment despite her condition worsening. Ms. Moradi is a former political prisoner jailed in the 1980s for supporting the PMOI. She was re-arrested in Tehran in April 2011 and was sentenced to another 10 years imprisonment.

The Iranian Resistance calls on all international authorities and human rights organizations, especially women’s rights advocates, to take immediate action over the plight of all political prisoners in Iran, in particular Ms. Zahra Mansouri, Motahhareh Bahrami and Seddigheh Moradi.
