Iran : Two prisoners died under torture in prisons of Bandar Abbas and Isfahan

On Sunday January 26, Moussa Sohrabi, a young athlete in Bandar Abbas central prison, died under torture. The torturers had a lot of hatred toward him because of his refusal to give in to their pressures. The mullahs’ regime said the cause of death was suicide to hide its crime.

On January 5, Shahab Farzan, a young 31 years old, graduate of physics from Isfahan university, after enduring eight months of imprisonment, died suspiciously. According to witnesses, the prison guards took Shahab in the morning and when he was returned to the ward, his face and hands showed obvious signs of torture and he had no balance. He fell and died before anyone could help them.

Death under torture and murder of prisoners by toxic agents is known methods of physical annihilation of the prisoners by the regime.

Sattar Beheshti, who was arrested on October 31, 2012, was martyred just four days after his arrest due to brutal torture in Evin prison. Amir Moussai in Borazjan prison, Alireza Shahbakhsh in Zahedan prison, Afshin Ossanlu, labor activist in Evin Prison and Ali Marashi in Ahwaz prison, were among other prisoners who lost their lives in 2013 due to torture.

Mass and arbitrary executions, continuing brutal torture and murder of prisoners under torture, necessitates more than ever the referral of the dossier of human rights violations in Iran to the Security Council. Inaction against crime, torture and execution cycle in Iran only encourages the regime for more torture and executions.
