Iran: Suppressive “Neighborhood Police” plan introduced in Tehran

Iran: Suppressive State Security Forces’ (SSF) commander for Greater Tehran Brig. Gen. Morteza Talai announced the formation of a new "Neighborhood Police", the state-run Baztab website reported on Tuesday.

He said, "Some 373 police stations are being set up in all of Tehran’s various districts under the Neighborhood Supervisory Watch program." To maintain security, he asked for an "expeditious launch of the metro police" as well as "20,000 surveillance cameras set up in Tehran."

Iran: Suppressive State Security Forces’ (SSF) commander for Greater Tehran Brig. Gen. Morteza Talai announced the formation of a new "Neighborhood Police", the state-run Baztab website reported on Tuesday.

Unable to tackle social problems which are a byproduct of the inhuman regime, Talai suggested an action similar to the events in Tehran’s Khak Sefid district in 2000 when the area was completely demolished. "Some crimes in districts such as Kam adjacent to Sharif University and Gachi district are such that one has to change its complete social structure altogether to clean up the place," he said.

The Iranian Resistance calls on all international human rights organizations to condemn the medieval ruling regime’s suppressive measures against the Iranian people.
