Iran: Suppressive forces violently attack the Gohardasht Prison

ncri-statement-400

On September 20, agents of repressive Gohardasht prison guards on the order of Mohammad Mardani, criminal head of the prison, raided ward four of the prison and beat the prisoners and destroy their property. In this brutal attack that was carried out in several stages and continued until midnight, even prisoners who were resting, were beaten. The mercenaries destroyed TV’s and walls of the rooms. A number of prisoners were wounded in this criminal attack. Three days earlier mafia gangs affiliated to henchman Mardani removed all air conditioners that prisoners had bought with their own money. Mardani seeks to expedite the death penalty of a number of prisoners under the title of “thugs”.

Gohardasht prisoners have repeatedly protested torture and beating, long term imprisonment in solitary confinement, exile to other prisons, cutting off food and hygiene quotas, and smuggling drugs into the prison by the head and other henchmen of this prison.

Iranian Resistance calls on international human rights organizations, especially the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran and Rapporteur on torture to take urgent action to address the situation of prisoners in Iran, and demands sending a delegation to investigate the deteriorating situation of prisons and all prisoners.
