NCRI – On the eve of the Festival of Fire celebrations traditionally held on the last Wednesday of the Iranian calendar year in Iran, the mullah’s regime has stepped up repressive measures and threatened the youth with arrest and punishment.
“Obstructing traffic and creating disturbance is a redline not to be crossed,” said Ahmadi-Moghaddam, head of the State Security Forces SSF on March 11. Calling the Iranian youth “thugs,” he said, “we will confront any hazardous activity and those who produce and sell dangerous substances and we will use surveillance cameras and our undercover agents to identify people.”
“I have ordered Brig. Gen. Talaiee (SSF chief for greater Tehran) not to hesitate to sanction adventurism and disturbances,” Moghaddam said.
In another development, Jomhuri Eslami daily wrote on Thursday, “foreign media is trying to turn the last Wednesday of the year into grounds to confront the government.”
Meanwhile, different organizations in Tehran, Azarbaijan, Isfahan, Khuzistan, Kermanshah, Mazandaran, and Fars provinces have supported the call by the Iranian Resistance to turn the Festival of Fire into a nationwide anti-government protest.
Fearing wide turnout for the celebrations, the SSF has closed down many shops and arrested many people around the country for selling firecrackers.
