Iran: Poisoning political prisoners to death

Poisoning political prisoners to death in IranNCRI – In reaction to increasing outrage against growing number of executions in Iran, the mullahs’ regime has resorted to a new criminal method to kill political prisoners in its notorious Gohardasht prison using toxic drugs. This inhuman method has resulted in a number of deaths amongst helpless prisoners.

According to reports obtained from inside Iran, the regime’s agents at the health center of Gohardasht prison supply prisoners with contaminated medicine. Instead of providing them with regular medicine, they are given medical powder that is contaminated with narcotics or toxic substances.

This method that has been practiced against prisoners in recent months was introduced by the warden of Gohardasht prison, Ali Haj Kazami. He has been the initiator of new forms of torture against prisoners and is now training others to use this new method on them.

Recently, a prisoner by the name of Mohammad Khonak in ward one of Gohardasht prison died as the result of using contaminated medicine. Head of prison’s clinic, Ali Reza Mahalati along with Ali Haj Kazem issuing the death certificates, declare the cause of deaths as suicide or drug overdose by the prisoners.

In addition, many prisoners in wards 1, 2 and 6 of Gohardasht facility have suffered from major side effects after using medicines supplied to them including vomiting, dizziness, numbness of tongue and mouth, and respiratory disorder.

The Iranian Resistance warns against the use of such inhuman methods against defenseless prisoners who are faced with serious danger. It also urges all international human rights organizations to call for referral of the regime’s horrific human rights dossier to the UN Security Council and that a special rapporteur to be assigned on Iran to investigate the most basic human rights abuses in that country for adoption of immediate and binding measures to stop brutal suppression of prisoners.
