Iran: More than 1,000 city railway workers walk out

workers-iran150NCRI – More 1,000 city railway workers have been on strike since August 15 over their unpaid salaries in the past five months in the southwestern city of Ahwaz.

Workers at the north and south yard depots of the railway have been waiting for a definitive answer from their government appointed management. However, it is refusing to give in to the workers' demands.

In past few weeks, workers at various factories and workshops have walked out over their pay dispute with the government appointed managements.

Among them are; Kiyan-Tire factory workers, Iran Khodro car manufacturing, Ashkan China factory in Tehran, Maybod Ceramic factory in the central city of Yazd, Kaveh safe box factory in Tehran and Textile factory in the western city of Qazvin among others.

In August alone nearly 140 workshops and factories have gone on strike over payments.

The Iranian Resistance calls on all labor organizations and unions, in particular, the International Labor Organization (ILO) to condemn anti-labor policies of the Iranian regime and to support workers' just demands.
