Iran : Enforcement of “plan to root out criminals” is another suppressive step

Iran : Enforcement of “plan to root out criminals” in vicinity of police stations is another suppresNCRI – In an interview with the government-run news agency ISNA, the Commander of the State Security Force (SSF) in Tehran Brig. Gen. Morteza Talai said, "The goal in implementing the rooting out plan in the vicinity of police stations is to show the active police presence to the people and create an atmosphere of insecurity for criminals."

He said, "The special units in police stations as oppose to regular police units are able to confront all crime-related matters," and added that "since March of this year, 23,000 drug addicts were arrested" in Tehran.

In the same period, the SSF has implemented a number of suppressive plans such as "Undercover Police," "Neighborhood Police," "Mountain Police," "Student Dormitory Police," and "Judicial Police." Despite their numerous titles, the plans have a common goal which is to suppress popular uprisings in various parts of the country especially in the capital.
