Iran: Demonstrations and unrest in Kurdistan against execution of 5 political prisonersNCRI – People of Iranian Kurdistan and Western Azerbaijan in cities of Sanandaj, Boukan, Saqez, Marivan, Mahabad, Piranshahr, Bijar, Maku, Shenou and Divandareh are on strike today in protest against the executions on Sunday of five Kurdish political prisoners. Ms. Shirin Alam-Houli, Farzad Kamangar, Ali Heydarian, Farhad Vakili and Mehdi Eslamian were hanged in Tehran’s notorious Evin prison.

In Piranshahr, people protested against the executions and the relocation of border market to the town of Mohammad-Yar of Naqadeh. They poured out in streets and clashed with suppressive forces. They set fire to suppressive forces’ vehicles and beat up the local governor and parliament deputy.

In the city of Dehgolan, young people chanted anti-regime slogans in their demonstration and clashed with the agents of the regime who attacked them. The suppressive forces fired on the demonstrators to control the spread of their protest.

In Boukan, the main city square and many streets are filled with agents of the State Security Forces (SSF), Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) and plainclothes agents preventing people’s uprising.

In Kamyaran and Marivan, all shops are closed in protest against the executions. Most students refused to go to school today.

In Sanandaj, all shops in Enghelab Square, shopping centers, Shahpour Street and many other places were closed and are on strike.
