Karimi-Rad admitted to the fact that prisons were overloaded and said, “There are more than 146,000 inmates in the country’s prisons. But this is not compatible with the number of the prisons in the country.”
The establishment of temporary prisons is an indication of an on going and dramatic jump in the number of arrests in the country which are being carried out in a bid to quell the increasing number of popular uprisings and civil disobedience against the mullahs’ regime.
