Iran: Creation of “Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice” a new step in suppression

Iran: Creation of NCRI – The mullahs’ inhuman regime took a step further in institutionalizing suppression by creating "Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice." Javad Sadeqzadeh, vice-president of the organization for "revitalizing promotion of virtue and prevention of vice" called "on the Majlis (parliament) to ratify a bill allowing the creation of the ministry." He said, "The government has agreed to formation of the new ministry and already has introduced the bill to Majlis," the official news agency IRNA reported on October 7.

Under the pretext of promoting virtue and preventing vice, the mullahs are attempting to increase the systematic suppression to combat growing popular uprisings. However, the majority of Iranian people hate the regime.

Formation of the new ministry comes at the time when there are dozens of other suppressive apparatus operating secretly or in public such as Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), paramilitary Bassij, Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), the State Security Forces (SSF). Nevertheless, all such suppressive security forces have not been able to suppress the increasing popular dissent by workers, students, and youths.
