Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll in 539 Cities Exceeds 254,300

  • Saeed Namaki, regime’s Health Minister: To date, about 400,000 people have been vaccinated. In most cities, we are hitting the highest number of COVID-19 patients during this fourth outbreak; and it will be out of control in many places. In Hamedan (western Iran), on the (Persian) New Year’s Eve (March 20, 2021), there were only seven patients hospitalized for COVID-19, but the number of hospitalized patients until yesterday is 1,452.   • Alireza Zali, head of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT) in Tehran: The number of COVID-19 Outpatients in Tehran is unprecedented; every two PCR patients’ tests are positive. (State-run media outlet, Bulletin-news, April 16, 2021)
  • Khuzestan: The COVID-19 situation in Ahvaz and Abadan has turned black (Out of each 100 people, 12 are infected). (IRNA news agency, April 16, 2021)
  • Isfahan University of Medical Sciences: Except for Kashan, 2,290 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized in the Province, 310 died in ICU, 26 of whom during the past 24 hours. (Mehr news agency, April 16, 2021)
  • Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences: Hospitals are full due to the new COVID-19  outbreak and difficult days are ahead. (IRNA, April 16, 2021)

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Friday, April 16, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 539 cities had surpassed 254,300. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 58,141, Isfahan 16,615, Khorasan Razavi 16,290, Khuzestan 15,314, Mazandaran 10,775, Lorestan 10,728, East Azerbaijan 10,383, West Azerbaijan 9,563, Qom 8,915, Gilan 8,906, Fars 7,502, Golestan 6,525, Alborz 6,393, Sistan and Baluchestan 5,781, Hamedan 5,733, Kerman 5,689, Central Province 5,263, Yazd 4,542, Semnan 4,500, Kurdistan 4,402, Qazvin 2,909, Hormozgan 2,895, Zanjan 2,780, Ilam 2,626, and Bushehr 2,594.
