The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Friday, July 24, 2020, that the number of Coronavirus fatalities in 347 cities across Iran had passed 75,900. While according to the Health Ministry, 25 of the 31 provinces of the country are red or on alert, and even the state-controlled statistics are constantly setting a new record in the number of victims and critically ill, Rouhani, speaking at the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT), said, yesterday, “The reason for the resurgence of the Coronavirus in some parts of the country was not economic and social activities, but the lack of strict and complete observance of instructions on holding gatherings and re-unions such as weddings and funerals and mourning ceremonies.” This is while, the day before, Iraj Harirchi, the regime’s Deputy Health Minister, told ILNA, “The number of deaths has increased by 50% compared to March, which is the result of our negligence and reopening (businesses, etc.).”

The daily, Resalat, affiliated with Khamenei wrote, yesterday, “Although the statistics are a new record and a sign of a terrible increase in the virus, it seems that the policy of the gentlemen, especially the president, is based on overall infection with the virus. Sometimes, general theories are spoken by officials and even experts, saying that the virus will spread more if health protocols are not followed. Everyone knows these, but practical measures must be taken to prevent the spread … One of the problems is that, unfortunately, some (officials), including the president, enter areas of specialization in which they have no expertise!”

According to the state-run daily, Aftab-news, today, Haririchi compared the Coronavirus death toll of more than 200 per day with that of the Iran-Iraq war, which was “around 60 a day” and said, “Currently, more than 20% of deaths in the country account for the Coronavirus outbreak. Previously, all infectious diseases made up less than 20% of the fatalities.”

In Mazandaran, according to doctors, at least 2,800 Coronavirus patients are hospitalized in the Province. Razi Hospital in Ghaemshahr and Imam Hospital in Amol each have more than 200 patients. The situation in Qaemshahr and Amol is catastrophic. The capacity of Sari hospitals is full. There are no empty beds in Juybar. 80% of the beds in Behshahr, 90% in Babol, and 70% in Chalous and Nowshahr are full and the empty beds will be filled quickly. More than 1,200 medical staff have been infected and 450 of whom are on sick leave.

The head of North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences told Fars news agency today, “This Province is among the top four provinces where the number of hospitalizations due to Coronavirus is increasing. Currently, the situation is red in the cities of Shirvan, Esfarayen, Bojnurd, Maneh Va Samalqan.”
