The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Thursday, July 2, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll in 342 cities in Iran is more than 64,200. The number of victims in Khorasan Razavi is 4,050, Qom 3,930, Lorestan 2,350, West Azerbaijan 1,760, Kermanshah 1,630, Hamedan 1,440, North Khorasan 750, Hormozgan 650, and Ilam 440.
While tens of millions of workers and laborers across Iran, especially in Tehran and other major cities were forced back to work following Khamenei’s and Rouhani’s decision, the regime’s president has once again put blame on the people, and said that the unprecedented increase in the number of patients was due to “Parties, weddings and mourning ceremonies” and “non-compliance with social distancing in public transport.” However, he added, “Restrictions are not supposed to be implemented extensively …”.
According to IRNA news agency, Alireza Zali, head of the NCCT in Tehran announced a 7.9 percent increase in the number of people admitted to Tehran hospitals in the past 24 hours and the managing director of Beheshte Zahra Cemetery said, “The state of this cemetery is not even comparable with that of the past 70 days.” He expressed concern that “Tehran will return to difficult and unimaginable conditions.” A Behesht-e Zahra employee told the state TV channel-2 yesterday, “We have buried 16-17 victims under the age of six… we are getting busier here every day.”
According to the Entekhab website, Minoo Mohraz, a member of the NCCT, said yesterday: “We have no idea what will happen to the society in the fall and winter, with the flu. We will soon enter Coronavirus’s second peak … Now we are almost back to the first days … The statistics are high and there are more patients in a bad situation and more fatalities … The peak is going up fast, and everyone is tired. Ali Mardani, another member of NCCT, was quoted by ISNA reporting of the “hazardous” situation in Tehran and the daily increase in patients, and the dead.
The head of Khomeini Hospital in Tehran told ISNA yesterday, “The number of outpatients and inpatients has tripled. A significant number of ICU patients are under the age of 30, and the proportion of (ICU) patients has increased to more than 40 percent. The number of patients who breathe with the help of the respiratory system has increased.” The same news agency reported, “Officials reiterate that ‘the situation in Tehran is worrying and people need to pay more attention,’ but the reality is that hospitals are full of critically ill patients and overwhelmed doctors and nurses.”
According to IRNA, yesterday, the president of the University of Medical Sciences in Golestan, “increased the number of red cities to eight … and said that 545 patients with Coronavirus are currently hospitalized in the Province’s hospitals. All hospitals in Gonbad Kavus are full, and the beds in Aq-Qala city are almost fully occupied.”
In Sistan and Baluchestan, the president of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences told Javan daily today, “The course of Coronavirus disease in Sistan and Baluchestan is increasing, and the number of positive laboratory cases is escalating day by day …”
In Kerman, the president of the Medical Sciences University in Sirjan told Fars news agency yesterday, “Increase in the volume of work and fatigue among colleagues, nurses and physicians, due to the increase in the number of those ill has caused less protection for colleagues. This, in turn, has led to the personnel to get sick and reduce the effectiveness of the system.”
In Hormozgan, the president of Minab Hospital reported the infection of 72 personnel of the hospital and told ISNA news agency today, “Minab Hospital is the largest medical center in East Hormozgan. It has 96 beds, which has now increased to 116. In practice, the number of beds for hospitalizing the patients has reached 300. To get to that capacity, we have been compelled to use beds from the maternity ward.”
In Gilan, the president of the Medical Sciences University was quoted by ISNA as saying today, “The number of those infected and those hospitalized in ICU wards is rising.”
In Lorestan, the president of the Medical Sciences University told Aflak TV station yesterday, “We have 169 ICU beds, 155 of which are being used. We set aside 14 beds for extraordinary cases. We don’t have any empty beds in Khorramabad.”
In Zanjan, deputy president of the Medical Sciences University told Fars news agency today, “Appraisals show the possibility of 85 percent of the population in the city of Zanjan getting infected. All leaves were canceled until further notice, and some hospitals can no longer admit patients. Currently, Zanjan hospitals have 2,000 beds. Vali Asr Hospital is full, and other hospitals are overflowing.”
