Iran: Clashes in Khorramabad and Homayounshahr

17 year old among those killed in Homayounshahr, Isfahan

NCRI – According to obtained reports from the central city of Homayounshahr, Isfahan, during clashes between State Security Forces (SSF) –mullahs' suppressive police– on the one hand and hundreds of the city’s people on the other hand, during the mourning of Muharram, on January 5, 2009, a 17 year old identified as Hamid Rezaii was murdered after shots fired by the criminal SSF agents. Several other protestors were wounded and close to 50 were arrested. The mullahs’ regime has refrained from handing over bodies of those killed to their families.

Moreover, based on reports obtained from Khorramabad (capital of the Lorestan province), the people of this city clashed with suppressive SSF forces during the mourning rituals of Ashura on January 7. In these clashes, criminal SSF agents fired shots into the crowd, wounding several people, including a woman.

Ahmad-Reza Radan, the mullahs’ SSF deputy chief, described the protestors as “opportunists” and claimed that people hurled stones and Molotov cocktails, setting fire to vehicles and government buildings of the mullahs’ regime in Homayounshahr.

The Iranian Resistance expresses its condolences to the families of the deceased, and considers the increasing trend of suppression as a sign of the ruling religious fascism’s mounting trepidation in the face of popular uprisings. The Iranian Resistance calls on all international bodies and human rights organizations to refer the dossier of the Iranian regime’s crimes to the UN Security Council and implement comprehensive sanctions against this criminal regime. The Iranian Resistance also demands immediate and effective measures aimed at stopping these crimes.
