Iran: Camp Ashraf Family member arrested and transferred to Evin prison

Evin prison entranceNCRI – Mullahs’ Intelligence agents in Qom severely beat and then arrested Jalaleddin Nabavi, 27, on Monday November 3 while he was on his way home.   During their attack on his home, the henchmen confiscated his computer, satellite receiver and personal photo albums.

Navabi was subsequently transferred to the notorious 209 ward in Evin prison.

Mr. Nabavi was arrested and then released on bail in 2006 because some of his relatives live in Ashraf, Iraq.

Currently in addition to Jalal Nabavi, five other members of this family including Tayebe, Fatima, and Atefe Nabavi and also Seyyed Zohoor and Seyyed Zia Nabavi are in Evin, Gohar-Dasht and Semnan prisons.

Mrs. Hamideh Nabavi received a one-year prison sentence last year for attending a ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of the massacre of political prisoners in 1988. Khadije Nabavi, wife of Mr. Zohoor Nabavi, also sentenced to one-year prison term.

The secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, called on all international human rights organizations to condemn arbitrary arrests by the Iranian regime and urged for immediate action to free political prisoners in Iran, especially those who were arrest because of their family ties to Ashraf residents.
