Iran: Call to Save Lives of 6 Political Prisoners Sentenced to Death in Sheyban Prison, Ahvaz

Amid the recent maneuver by the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to grant amnesty, the regime’s Judiciary sentenced six political prisoners of Arab origin compatriots to death in Sheyban Prison of Ahvaz on February 14.

At least 14 prisoners were hanged from 12 to 15 February in Gorgan, Qazvin, Urmia, Arak, Markazi Karaj, Neishabur, and Gohar Dasht prisons. In meantime, on February 13 and 14, 12 prisoners in Gohardasht and 5 prisoners in Ilam were transferred to solitary cells for their death sentences to be carried out.

On Wednesday, February 15, two prisoners in Gohardasht prison, on Tuesday, February 14, two more prisoners named Milad Jajoyi Khanik and Mohammad Ali Akhtari Kahlan in Central Prison of Urmia, one prisoner named Mehdi Dustari and two others in Karaj Central Prison, and three other prisoners in Central Prison of Arak and a prisoner named Parviz Forutani in Nishabour prison were hanged.

On Monday, February 13, two prisoners named Ahmad Samari and Behzad Alirezaei were executed in Qazvin Central Prison, and on Sunday, February 12, Sirus Gholam Ali was hanged in Gorgan Central Prison.

The Iranian Resistance once again calls on the international community to take immediate and effective measures to prevent the execution of prisoners, especially political prisoners sentenced to death in Sheyban prison in Ahvaz and demands that the case of the regime’s crimes be referred to the United Nations Security Council and the leaders of the regime, especially Ali Khamenei, the regime’s president Raisi, the Judiciary chief Eje’i and commanders of the IRGC be brought to justice for four decades of crimes against humanity and genocide.
