IRAN: Call for international condemnation of execution of a Kurdish political prisoner in Tabriz

Sirvan Nezhavi

NCRI – On the morning of Sunday August 9, in a brutal crime, Kurdish political prisoner Sirvan Najavi (Nezhavi) was hanged by the regime’s agents in Tabriz Central Prison. The henchmen did not notify his lawyer about the execution and deprived his family from having a last visit with their son. The Iranian Resistance and human rights organizations had earlier called for saving this political prisoner.

The Iranian Resistance calls on all international human rights organizations, especially the United Nations and its relevant bodies, to strongly condemn this criminal execution and emphasizes that instead of closing eyes on the crimes of this regime and pinning hope on the mirage of “moderation”, the dossier of the religious dictatorship ruling Iran must be referred to the UN Security Council for crimes against humanity, including 120,000 political executions, and its leaders must face justice.

The Iranian Resistance offers its condolences to the family and friends of Sirvan Najavi and to the people of Sardasht and Kurdistan and urges all fellow citizens, especially young people, to protest against these brutal executions and to support the families of victims and political prisoners.

Sirvan Najavi, a Sardasht resident, was arrested in July 2011 in the city of Karaj and sentenced to death on the mullahs’ fabricated charge of ‘Moharebeh’ (enmity with God) through cooperation with the PJAK.
