Iran: 22-year-old student sentenced to 10 years imprisonment

NCRI – Mr. Hassan Tarlani, 22, a student in ward 209 of Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison, has been sentenced to 10 years prison in exile in Kerman (Central Iran) for "waging war against God, acting against the national security and propaganda against the regime.

He is the grandson of Hassan Ali Safaei, a reputable bazaar merchant who was executed in 1981 for supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran.

Hassan was arrested on February 2, 2009, along with a group of family members of Ashraf residents and was transferred to Evin Prison.

The henchmen have accused Mr. Tarlaei of having the photos of his mother and brother who are residents of Ashraf.

The physical state of another political prisoner, Ms. Mahsa Naderi, a 19-year-old economics student has also deteriorated. She was arrested on February 20, 2009, during a raid on her house. She was first taken to a solitary cell in Ward 209 of the notorious Evin prison in Tehran and was subjected to severe physical and psychological tortures. She has been suffering from kidney ailment and severe headaches in intolerable state of cells in Ward 209. Prison guards, namely Saiid Sheikhan, have been depriving her of the least medical care in jail.
