Iran: 200 relatives of political prisoners protest outside Evin Prison, weekly visits cancelled

File photo: A protest outside Evin PrisonThe gathering of around 200 members of the families of political prisoners outside Evin Prison that started this morning continued into the afternoon. They are demanding to visit their loved ones and to have the inmates returned to the general ward.

Prison authorities did not permit visits for the families gathered in the so-called “Imam Memorial” highway and even tried to disperse them.

In the meantime, to prevent any connections between the families, the authorities began transmitting jamming signals to block telephone connections from this region with any other area of the city.
