NCRI – On Saturday, December 5, 2009, the clerical regime ruling Iran arrested 19 mothers of those slain or detainees of the nationwide uprising and families of political prisoners, who had gathered in Abnama Square at Laleh Park for their weekly protest rally. 16 of those arrested are mothers and young girls.

Agents of the State Security Force (SSF) were stationed along all roads leading to Laleh Park, including Vesal, Kargar, 16 Azar streets and in the vicinity of the park. Plainclothes agents and about 300 suppressive forces were stationed at the entrance and inside the park.

The suppressive agents transferred the detained young women to unknown locations using unmarked vans.

The Iranian regime’s agents also shot tear gas to frighten the mothers and other participants of the rally, hoping to disperse the crowd. However, the protestors, who were carrying lit candles, continued their rally on Kargar Street towards 16 Azar and Vesal streets.
