Iran: 17 prisoners executed in 2 days

ncri-statement

The anti-human regime of Iran has ratcheted up suppression in fear of expansion of popular protests on the verge of the sham elections, particularly the use of the brutal death penalty. In merely two days, January 6-7, this regime has executed 17 prisoners.

On Thursday, January 7, henchmen carried out a public hanging of a 25-year-old man in Shabestar’s vegetable market (Eastern Azerbaijan Province) and another prisoner in the city of Khoy (Western Azerbaijan Province).

On that same day, three prisoners were hanged in Ardebil central prison and at least one prisoner was executed in Hamadan central prison.

On January 6, three prisoners were hanged in Urmia central prison, five prisoners in Karaj’s Gohardasht (Rajai Shahr) Prison, and three prisoners in Karaj Central Prison.

The Iranian Resistance calls on all human rights bodies and organizations to condemn the atrocities of the religious fascism ruling Iran, in particular arbitrary, mass and public executions, and urges immediate action to refer the human rights file in Iran to the United Nations Security Council.
